In the Lewis quote you referenced, he says, "It is a good rule, after reading a new book, never to allow yourself another new one till you have read an old one in between. [i.e., 1:1] If that is too much for you, you should at least read one old one to every three new ones." Did you intend in your first paragraph to invert that rule to three old to every one new? If so, I get it. Classicist and all. But I was just a little confused.

Haha—when Chesterton misquoted Dickens, he justified himself: of course, I’ve digested Dickens so well that it comes out looking different. ;) I’ve digested Lewis and apparently made it my own without realizing it. I’ll own that—I think my rule is better. Haha!

Ha! I don't recall that Chesterton. I love it! It's both euphemistic and graphic at the same time. Awesome!

You should read the book I wrote and published last year: THE PILGRIM PAGES: THE DISCIPLINE AND DELIGHT OF KEEPING A SPIRITUAL JOURNAL. And I am not even sorry for the shameless self-promotion. You got to shoot your shot.

By the way, your book READING FOR THE LOVE OF GOD was number 1 on my personal Best Books for 2023. Truly loved it!
