Hi! Your thoughts on church hopping were my thoughts 20 years ago when my husband, daughters, and I left "the cafeteria" for the Mother Church...the Catholic Church! It's all about the Source and Summit: Jesus in the Eucharist!

It saddens me that we are so divided that someone can identify as an Anglican and not even consider trying an area Episcopal church. You should of course follow your conscience and I'm not criticizing you for that, just mourning over the way things have played out.

Will you be one of Regent's Summer Public Lecture speakers when you're there? I'm about an hour away and would love to listen in! Wish I could take the class. Please let me know if you have anytime off while in Vancouver, I can give you some nice places to see - whether you're solo or with you family :)

YES! I will be! Please come. And do get in touch. We'd love to know where to go. I'll have my husband and daughter with me.

Wonderful! I tried looking on Regent's website but couldn't find any information on exact date + time, but I'll check back.

Although I don't always know restaurants or coffee shops that are really loved in the area, Tacofino has *fantastic* tacos and of course the fish or diverse cuisine is top notch. Granville Island has a HUGE indoor farmer's market daily and you can have some of the best local fruit + veg if your family wants some fresh produce in between meals.

As for outings, a really nice one is Stanley Park seawall, and it's free to walk around and enjoy. Stop on the many beaches and have a picnic lunch or just enjoy the near-300 degree view of the city while you walk and enjoy the weather. It's quite long so if you didn't want to be there for hours you'll want to check out a map and park/start accordingly! Notice walkways and bikeways are different + (mostly) marked.

If you will have a rental car, Lynn Canyon is a free suspension bridge (smaller sister to the large, touristy, and expensive Capilano) but go early for a gorgeous forest hike + swaying bridge experience because the parking lot fills up fast, especially on weekends.

If you won't have a car, our skytrain public transit is clean, safe, and easy to use! If you take the transit to the New West Quay station, there is a *fantastic* and free art gallery that I take everyone to. The New Media Gallery specializes in art that has some form of technology in it, and it is always very thought-provoking and the docents, who give context for every piece, are excellent! You can be in and out in under an hour, as it usually only houses 3-4 pieces medium to large pieces.

Depending on your desire for Asian cuisine, the Richmond Night Market is REALLY fun and quite an experience. It's very overstimulating (lol) but the food is fantastic and is a really rich and enjoyable time! I believe it does cost a little bit to get in, but go hungry!

Be advised that Wreck Beach on UBC's campus (where Regent is) is a nude beach. We found out the hard way. LOL

If it's really hot when you come (which, it's hot for locals, but not people who have lived in the south!) a really beautiful and relaxing way to cool down is to get day tickets even just for 1 hour at the Kitsilano pool. It's a huge pool that sits right on the oceanfront and you have a big bay view along with cityscape and mountains for your scenery! It's quite reasonable as it's a public pool, but the view is worth triple! (see here for openings when you're closer to date: https://vancouver.ca/parks-recreation-culture/kitsilano-pool.aspx)

As you can see, some of the best ways to enjoy "Beautiful BC" is in the gorgeous natural surroundings. If architecture is your thing, there is a lot to see just by walking around with the PNW 'wood, stone, glass' that mimic the natural surroundings, too. There is so much to see and do for very little money - use the splurges for food! :)
